"Remembering Harry Belafonte: A Legacy of Activism and Entertainment"

  Harry Belafonte , the legendary American singer, actor, and   civil rights activist , has passed away at the age of 96. He was a trailblazer in both the entertainment industry and the fight for   social justice , using his platform to champion the causes of the marginalized and oppressed. Born in Harlem,  New York  in 1927, Belafonte grew up in poverty and faced numerous obstacles on his journey to becoming a successful performer. Despite these challenges, he found his calling in music and began his career as a jazz singer in the 1940s. He later gained fame as a  calypso singer , with hits like "Day-O (The  Banana Boat Song )" and "Jump In The Line." Belafonte's success as an entertainer allowed him to use his platform to promote  social justice causes .
